Emily is a PhD candidate in urban and historical geography at Clark University. Her dissertation explores the history and growth of the Domino sugar refinery in Williamsburg, Brooklyn from the perspective of the sugar plantation complex in the Caribbean and the Black Atlantic world.
She received her M.S. in Urban Policy & Planning at Hunter College and her B.A. in Government at Smith College. She has also worked as a Project and Research Coordinator for the Brooklyn Waterfront Research Center and as a Policy Research Associate for the Bronx Cooperative Development Initiative.
During her time with CPCRS, Emily focused on the future of digital humanities and Black geographies in historic preservation. Read Emily's Issue Paper here.
